Wildflower Portrait Session
Mount Fair Vineyard, Charlottesville, VA
Back in the wintertime, Olivia had reached out to me to do a creative session. She was looking for a romantic wildflower session, and months later, we finally got to do it!
The biggest issue was finding a wildflower field where we could take photos. We scoured Instagram and TikTok, hoping to find the perfect spot. Then I found a post from Mount Fair Vineyard in Crozet, just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia. They had posted a photo of a horseback rider in a field of wildflowers, with mountains in the background. I reached out, and they were so helpful! They told us when the flowers would be blooming again (mid-July), and when we got to the venue, it was more beautiful than we could have imagined!
We had already postponed due to storms the day before this session, and the next day we decided to risk it and drive the two hours to the venue. We drove through storms, but when we got to the venue, the clouds hadn't quite reached it yet. We rushed down to the wildflower field for a few shots before rushing up the hill to the greenhouse to take cover.
The rain poured down, and when it finally stopped, a rainbow appeared! Olivia and I jumped on the chance to photograph it behind her, and I love the result. This session was so fun because we had to work with different types of natural light. The lighting went from overcast, to dark and stormy, to hazy and finally a golden hour glow.
Olivia looked every bit like Kiera Knightley in Pride & Prejudice. It was so fun to be able to take on a creative session before I head into fall wedding season. Olivia was up for anything, and I'm so glad we could bring her vision to life!
I hope you enjoy these peeks from her session!
