A Waterfront Wedding in DC

Tara and Michael's wedding at the DC Wharf fell on the hottest day of 2022 so far...but their natural light-filled venue kept the summer glow in and the heat out!
This couple hosted an amazing party with family and friends who had traveled internationally to be there for them. Many of their guests made the journey from Lebanon and Singapore, and it was clear throughout the day that Tara and Michael wanted nothing more than to spend time with their loved ones. We were able to knock out many of their photos before their cocktail hour, so that they could mingle with their guests.
When I say their reception space was jaw-dropping...
The Intercontinental Hotel-Wharf has a spacious ballroom with a key feature that is a photographer's dream: floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river. Look at all of that natural light! The citrus-colored floral arrangements by Helen Oliva Flowers created a refreshing atmosphere in the ballroom. My favorite part of the decor was the long King's Table with floating candles!
One of my favorite photos from Tara and Michael's wedding was captured during their first dance. While the couple is out of focus, you can see the crowd of cheering guests behind them. If I could sum up the feel of their wedding day with one photo, this would be it:

We managed to sneak away for some blue hour photos, and I just love these newlywed portraits.
I love it when you can find the couple on the dance floor. Tara and Michael's guests were so excited to celebrate with them! Their friends and family members were so kind and I had a wonderful time capturing Tara and Michael's wedding weekend. Please check out the wonderful vendors at the bottom of this post who helped make their day possible!
