All That Glitters: Ava Laurenne Bride
Summer 2022 Editorial Photoshoot
When my now-husband proposed back in 2013, I was living in Downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia while I worked towards my graduate degree. As I started planning my wedding, I realized there was a bridal boutique just a few blocks from me, tucked away in The Galleria on Caroline Street. I brought my mother with me to look at wedding dresses, and when we walked in, we knew right away that I would find "the one" there. The stylists were so helpful and friendly, and I walked out that day with my perfect gown.
Fast forward to 2022, and Ava Laurenne Bride now inhabits the historic bank on the corner of Princess Anne Street, where brides travel from far and wide to search for their wedding gowns. Despite the grandeur of the bridal boutique's new location, the atmosphere is still the same. When you walk in, you feel like you're family.
Ava Laurenne Bride was made for photoshoots. With its huge windows letting in natural light, it's a photographer's dream. The historic vault is currently draped in a custom floral design created by Gatherings by Mercer.
Last week, I got to photograph a few beautiful bridal looks, starting with this Justin Alexander show-stopper. I usually love "clean" gowns the most, meaning I typically prefer fewer details. However, I instantly fell in love with the glittery, intricate designs covering this dress.
The second look gave me Disney Cinderella-vibes. If you want to feel like a princess, this ballgown fits the bill.
When I'm editing for bridal shoots (or weddings), I never use Photoshop to add in sparkle. These gowns photograph beautifully, with no extra adjustments. You don't have to worry about my camera picking up every bit of magic.
